Right. From now on and until an as of yet unspecified time in the future the primary language of the blog will be English.

The reasons for this are quite simple. I know, for a fact, that most if not all of my Finnish readers have quite a good grasp on English, so the switch won’t really bother them. Second, I hope that some non-Finns might be reading this too (I almost have reasons to think so now), and I reckon that for them Finnish text will be significantly harder than English will be for the Finns.

Third, uhm, waittaminute. I’m quite sure that just a minute ago I had a third reason. Oh yes. The nail in the coffin for this decision (what a horrible choice of idiom) is the fact that my Finnish prose isn’t that special. Indeed, if styles were foods, my writing would be the 19 pence Tesco baked beans tin. And as everybody knows, plus ça change…

I’m modifying the blog-specific texts of the default flavour to reflect this decision, so from now on it’s no more ’kommentoi’ but rather ’feedback’ and so. I think you’ll manage, tho. If you’d prefer the Finnish variety, please use the retro-navi flavour. Please let me know if I’ve overlooked some part or the links work in a confusing way. I’m not quite sure if I’ve caught everything yet.

Note, however, that I’m not waivering my rights to Finnish writing, should I get the urge. This means that you don’t get to complain if I do fall back on Finnish at times (or, for that matter, Swedish or French or German or Sanskrit).
