Word 91: Soporific
More than once in the week after I saw ”Adaptation,” I found myself suddenly awake in the middle of the night, pulse racing, fretting over the movie’s intricate, fascinating themes. Since quite a few of the films I see have a decidedly soporific effect, those bouts of insomnia might in themselves be sufficient grounds for recommending this one.

British Gun Control Laws Caused Their Doom – The infected could have been slowed or held at bay perhaps if London residents had greater access to firearms. If the infected popped up in some American town or even NY, sure people would go down in the thousands but the uninfected would have a fighting chance. Zombies aren’t that bad if you’re well armed. These zombies while fast and horrid are no match for well trained disciplined fire like the Brits at Rourkes Drift!
you’re missing the point. i’m sick of you liberals and your ”rational” ideology. i think that the main thing to consider is that i’d rather feel safe from zombies than fear walking down the street at night because every psychotic freak can get their hands on a gun. never, ever, question american civil liberties again!
I agree with Dude Where’s My Car, I would rather know I am able to defend myself from zombies with guns than worry about getting shot. Maybe because I live in America so I am used to guns. My cousin in law is French and I was hanging out with him and my uncle a few weeks ago and we were shooting targets. My Cousin-in-law was very uncomfortable with rifles and made me scared with his lack of safety.

En vaan tykkää siitä miltä digivideo näyttää. Zombieleffana ihan ok, jossain määrin ennalta-arvattava vaan niinhän ne kaikki. Kuvat tyhjästä Lontoosta ovat juuri niin hienoja kuin on annettu ymmärtää.
Cabaret
Mielipiteeni perinteisistä musikaaleista ei ole koskaan ollut kovinkaan korkea, eikä Cabaret’n näkeminen ainakaan nostanut sitä. Näytelmäosiot ovat melko pätevästi tehtyjä ja kehyskertomus on mielenkiintoinen, mutta a) laulut eivät linkity tarinankerrontaan kovinkaan mielenkiintoisesti ja b) natsismi-aspekti ryssitään (heh heh) aika totaalisesti.
Final Destination 2
Hieno yhdistelmä Wallace & Gromit -tyyppistä vekotinrakentelua ja veristä teinikauhua. Juoniosiot ovat tietenkin aivan turhia, mutta puolenkymmentä gore-kohtausta toimivat itse asiassa vallan mainiosti.
God of Cookery
Pataan tarvitaan: pari kakkavitsiä, paljon naamanvääntelyä, hieman kung fua. Kypsennetään 90 minuuttia. Lopputulos: Ei yhtä hyvä kuin Shaolin Soccer. Mutta toisaalta, mikäpä olisi?
Happiness of the Katakuris
Jaa-a. Ilmeisesti järjettömän hieno konsepti (kauhu-komedia-musikaali-savianimaatio) voi sittenkin johtaa ala-arvoiseen lopputulokseen. Sillä puolivälissä elokuvaa mielenkiintoni loppui kokonaan.
Hudsucker Proxy
Minun mielestäni Coenin veljesten paras kausi alkaa Miller’s Crossingista ja päättyy Fargoon. Juuri siltä väliltä löytyy myös Hudsucker Proxy, tajuntaalaajentavan hienosti suunniteltu, rakennettu ja kuvattu komedia kafkalaisesta yrityksestä. Joku voisi pitää päähenkilöitä tylsinä, eikä olisi aivan väärässä. Toisaalta taas pastisseina ja pilakuvina he ovat loistavia.
Human Traffic
Kyllähän minä sen ymmärrän, että klubbailusta kertovassa elokuvassa ei paljon ulkomaailmaa näytetä, mutta Human Traffic olisi voinut tapahtua Cardiffin sijaan ihan missä tahansa muualla. Leffasta löytyy muutama hieno elokuvatekninen osuus, mutta hönöjen monologit ovat pääasiallisesti tylsiä.
Spun
Musiikkivideo-ohjaaja Åkerlundin esikoispitkä lainaa reilusti Requiem For A Dreamia ja kaikkia koskaan tehtyjä huumehölmöilyrainoja. Kaikessa ylettömyydessään (leikkausleikkausleikkaus) ihan hauska viimeistä kolmasosaansa lukuunottamatta. Kun ei ole draaman kaarta kannattamassa koko leffaa, niin ei ole.
Treasure Planet
Paradoksaalisesti CGI:n käyttö piirretyissä elokuvissa vie ne lähemmäksi perinteisiä toimintaelokuvia, koska niissäkin käytetään tietokoneella luotuja efektejä. Niinpä tässäkin tapauksessa käsiin jää latteahko seikkailuelokuva, jonka päähenkilöt vain sattuvat olemaan piirrettyjä. Sisältää standardiannoksen Disneyn perhesoopaa, ja päähenkilö-teini on ihan käsittämättömän ärsyttävä.
Undercover Brother
Ollakseen komedia näyttelijöillä on turhan usein luvattoman huono ajoitus, mutta muutama läppä osuu ja uppoaa. Dave Chappelle on hauska.
